Auto Guard Protect FAQ
We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions about our Vehicle Service Contracts (VSCs) to help you better understand our services.
What is a Vehicle Service Contract (VSC)?
A Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) is an agreement between you and Auto Guard Protect that provides repair coverage for your vehicle after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. It’s often referred to as an “extended auto warranty,” but it is not a warranty.
What is the waiting period for coverage to begin?
To prevent misuse, there is a standard 30-day and 1,000-mile waiting period from the time of purchase before your coverage becomes active. This ensures that preexisting issues are not claimed under your policy.
Does this replace my manufacturer’s warranty?
No. A VSC is designed to provide repair coverage after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. If your vehicle is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, your VSC will complement it by covering repairs the original warranty might not include.

Can I choose my repair shop?

How does the claims process work?
Is there a deductible?
Yes, most plans include a deductible, which you pay out of pocket for each covered repair. Deductible amounts vary by plan and are clearly outlined in your contract.
How are payments made for my policy?
Payments can be made in full to secure the best discounts, or you can opt for monthly payments to accommodate any budget. Our flexible payment terms are designed to suit your financial needs.
Can I get coverage for a used car?
Absolutely! We offer coverage for both new and used vehicles, provided they meet our eligibility criteria. Cars with higher mileage or older models may have specific limitations.
Is my car eligible for coverage?
Eligibility depends on your car’s make, model, year, and mileage. Vehicles with over 100,000 miles or major preexisting conditions may not qualify for coverage.
Can I transfer my coverage to a new owner if I sell my car?
Yes, your VSC is transferable to a new owner, which can increase your vehicle’s resale value. Please contact our support team to initiate the transfer.
Can I cancel my policy?
Yes, you can cancel your policy at any time. If you cancel within the first 30 days and have not filed a claim, you’ll receive a full refund. After 30 days, refunds will be prorated based on your policy’s usage.
Is there a limit to how many claims I can make?
No, there is no limit to the number of claims you can make. However, the total cost of repairs cannot exceed your vehicle’s market value.
Do I have to maintain my vehicle to keep coverage?
Yes. Regular maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) is required to keep your coverage active. Failure to maintain your vehicle may void your policy.
